Job Description

HealthDesk is a program started by George Washington University with the mission to maximize the benefits of digital health technologies and platforms to improve individual health and well-being in Washington, D.C and throughout the country. By working with community and national organizations, HealthDesk achieves this through demonstrating to a wide audience how to access patient portals, optimize phones, and how to utilize digital health applications.

HealthDesk’s virtual educational platform focuses on creating and producing content on digital health tools. These digital health campaigns will provide HealthDesk’s partner organizations brief discussions, interviews,  and instructional videos on the tools for self-management of health that will be distributed to their audience via social media and websites.

HealthDesk is currently seeking a multimedia and marketing intern with familiarity in video editing and graphic design, who is creative, detail oriented, and able to assist in marketing and media management.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Filming and editing campaign videos
  • Assist with creating and designing digital marketing content for social media
  • Brainstorming ideas for HealthDesk marketing strategy
  • Researching best digital media and communication strategies for the promotion of health
  • Participate in HealthDesk strategy meetings

Qualifications and Skills 

  • Completed or currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in media, communications, marketing, public health or public relations. At least 1 year of degree program completed.
  • Experience with Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented, creative, self-starter
  • Basic computer skills and experience in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience working with/ marketing to residents southeast Washington, D.C (Recommended)
  • Familiarity with Hootsuite (recommended)

Additional Information

  • This internship is unpaid (academic credit only*)
  • Hours: 10-15 hrs hours per week
  • The location of the position will be based in GWMFA’s 2120 L street NW However, the position will work remotely until further notice.

*Students who want to receive academic credit through their university will ensure that any and all paperwork needed to secure academic credit is completed
