Job Description

Position Summary

To schedule and register patients and provide effective customer service during the appointment scheduling process. Create master schedule templates for providers and coordinate changes in the schedule with the different members of the team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Answer incoming calls. Manage calls in a personal, systematic and organized manner.
  • Perform all registration of demographic information for new patients and updates to established patients.
  • Oversight of the call center schedulers.
  • Schedule, reschedule, cancel and verify appointments
  • Create and maintain master schedules for all providers and treatments in the Cancer Center. (Must attend master scheduling course)
  • Develop a working knowledge of clinic space and resources through discussion with operational staff.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets that track provider sessions, leave request, and changes.

Qualifications

Education           

  • High school diploma or equivalent; knowledge of medical terminology. 
  • Two years of college is preferred.

 Experience         

  • Minimum 3 years of advanced scheduling experience and/or a minimum six months experience as a Master Scheduler Trainee or Lead Scheduler.
  • Experience with Allscripts patient scheduling/registration is preferred. 
  • Must have experience in a medical office. 
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills are required; must have effective and professional communication/phone skills and the ability to manage a variety of responsibilities simultaneously with attention to detail.
