Job Description

Position Summary
Provides assistance to Chairman in management of his clinical schedule, day to day departmental operations and special events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities   
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Patient Care: Schedules patient appointments and maintains clinical schedule for the chairman; calls in prescriptions to pharmacies for patients as requested; performs new patient intake function when requested.
  • Departmental Management: Maintains chairman’s calendar; oversees faculty’s completion of annual reports and credentialing paperwork required by MFA and GWU Hospital; prepares annual budget documents related to department’s endowed funds for approval by VPHA, SMHS; coordinates departmental meetings and special events; oversees preparation and payment of invoices for payment to vendors and reimbursement of approved faculty expenses.
  • Education & Training: Performs required tasks to process and manage appointments of voluntary faculty in coordination with residency training and school of medicine faculty and staff as well as with the GWUMC Office of Faculty Affairs; maintains faculty databases; prepares content and oversees development of the departmental website; sends out announcements to full time and voluntary faculty of weekly grand rounds; provides administrative support to visiting lecturers.

Education            
A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field or an equivalent combination of training is necessary.
 


Experience         
At least three years of responsible business administration experience directly applicable to supervisors
functional area is necessary.

Competencies  
Ability to do math calculations, input data into the computer, and analyze data as requested. Must be able
to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner. Must be able to follow and
understand instructions, and react favorably in all work situations. Must be mentally adaptable and flexible
in dealing with a variety of people.
